A circus performance featuring the Kabuki Drop system for a stunning, perfectly timed reveal.
In live circus performances, the entrance is part of the spectacle. With the right setup, even a simple curtain can build anticipation, hide what comes next, and turn a performer’s appearance into a memorable theatrical moment.
For this circus performance, a 4-meter circular truss was installed in the center of the arena. A curtain was suspended around the truss using 10 Kabuki Drop units, completely concealing the center of the ring from the audience.
From the stands, spectators could see the curtain — but had no idea what was waiting behind it.
The setup created a simple but effective element of suspense. The audience knew something was about to happen, but the curtain kept the surprise completely hidden.
Then came the cue.
With the Kabuki Drop system triggered simultaneously, the curtain released around the entire circle in an instant.
Behind it stood three riders on horseback, ready to begin their performance.
The curtain disappeared, the center of the arena was revealed, and the riders entered the spotlight — turning a standard performer entrance into a full theatrical reveal.
The circular configuration allowed the curtain to open evenly around the entire ring, creating a 360-degree reveal for the audience.
With multiple Kabuki Drop units working together, the production team could coordinate the curtain release as a single visual effect. The result was not simply a curtain drop, but a carefully timed moment that connected the technical setup with the performance itself.
For circus productions, arena shows, live events, and theatrical performances, Kabuki Drop can be used to conceal performers, scenic elements, props, vehicles, or other visual elements until the precise moment they need to appear.
